Better way of saving this data =)

Post  kelu on Mon Jan 07, 2013 5:50 pm

Hey guys, you are doing a great job with this data. Although I have a suggestion and a question. It would be much better if you could put all these in excel spreadsheets. So make a database of this, but put in order. It would be much easier for me to transfer it this way to the real database if you did that.
What I mean is a table like that:
kelostrada.pl/upload/table%20sample.xlsx

Doesn't matter for me in which application you do that, google spreadsheets works as fine Wink just do it the way it's openable in excel.

Yeah we can do it like that, just so you know thought only me, yellow flash, and CM4Saga (close to that, sorry if not exactly right) are the only people working on it, not those other two idiots that posted trial deck listings. Just want to be clear on whose editing here, and if more people are recruited i'll add them to the list, but if you (or anybody reading this) sees cards from someone else just ignore them., I'm trying to keep things organized by having just 3 people working on it, it's easier to tell that way of whose got it. And I'll covert set 1 and cavalry into tables, but I think I'll also have the forum posts still (after they're sent to me and approved when it comes to the set the other 2 are working on, some spacing a issues need to be fixed)/. The rest of my sets will be up shortly, and I think the other 2 (it's easier to say this then typing names out) are making good progress.

Hey Kelu quick question, do you want everything in one spreadsheet, or is 1 spreadsheet for each set, trial, extra booster good? (That's kinda how we divided stuff up, me and the other 2 have a few of each, and in the end I'm going to have them all for approval checking)

Edit: This comment is at Yellow Flash and Cm4Saga if you guys read this. Insert a column for Trigger, and just type what type of trigger after (I think I mentioned this to flash, but saga hopefully you read this, if not i'll pm you later).

yeah, every set can have its own table. If not then you should add a column for set. Either way, the set must be visible somehow Wink
Triggers are important and shields on cards (i think u forgot about shield in some of your post, didnt look it thoroughly though)

spreadsheets are really getting annoying...

i get a good row..then a card with a HUGE skill comes along...and messes it all up :/ (talking bout ultimate daiyusha XD)

edit: hmmm i got an idea....

how bout i put all other info on a spreadsheet...and make topics of the card's skills...will that work?

Yeah I didn't do shields just because I personally thought they were unnecessary, IMO. I just thought it's pretty obvious that all grade 0's have 10000 shield other than draw triggers with a shield of 5000 (unless I've missed a card lol) and all grade 1's and 2's have 5000 shield (again unless i missed something, and not counting the bonus 5000 for especial intercepts because that's part of their card effect). I mean we can have them if you want, I was just stating my opinion. I mean it is good to have as much play info down as possible i guess. And yeah as to the triggers I was just noting there wasn't a column for them and that it should be added (probably just one to the right of the last column). Also as to the Colum for set I think we can just stick the name in the Top row, 1st column just because, at least in your example, was left blank lol. Or we can just title the spread after the set name/trial deck name/ extra booster name.

you are right, i thought about that after I posted, but didn't feel like edit Razz you dont have to add shields, its stupid. Just dont forget about triggers

you can do how you like about the sets. Just remember if you gonna use column for sets, then please with every set use the same name - like BT01. every different letter/number will make it harder to put into real database later

Hi. I'm one of those idiots that posted a trial deck listing. Nice to know that my help is appreciated. Thank you so much for the compliment. Just thought I'd lighten your workload a little bit, but clearly I'm an idiot. I was actually about to volunteer to put everything into an Excel document, but, okay. Thanks.

Edit: Also, in this game, in case you didn't know, they're skills. Not effects. Skills. Only reason I wrote 'effect' was because you guys put it that way. Skills. K? K. And I'm the idiot, right?

You clearly an idiot because the card database section is suppose to be for the members who are working on it, and I got appointed here and two others contacted me that I approved of so the main admin (may not remember his name atm) made them members to help me, we are the only people who are suppose to be adding anything. And yeah we don't need help with the excel stuff, everything is already divided up properly. So good-bye. And had you been intelligent and asked me to see if you could help you might have been able to.

And Kelu quick question. Does this need to be done before a certain point? I just wana know for time frame wise because i'm also working on a lot of school stuff and I have to multi-task. I still have no problem leading the card database creation but I gotta know if there's a time frame to work in. Probably the sooner the better is the best, but It just may take a bit longer for me to get it done ( i can get a majority done over the weekend).

if they could add an image model for what we do they are grateful, that is, for me it's easier to do things if you just see what I have and do.

I already sent you a pm saying what to do, it's one box for each title (the things in quotation marks that I sent you), then you go down one row and fill out the card info in the same order as that original row, then you do that for the next card, and so on and so on.

(remove the spaces)

These are actually notepad files saved from an Excel file. You should be able to open them in Note++ if not Excel itself in tab limited. (They work for LackeyCCG so they should be able to work for this).

Sets included
BT01 through to BT06
EB01 through to EB03
KAD1 through to KAD5
TD01 through to TD06
Promos through to Blaster Mameshiba.

I'm having issues opening that, so I gotta ask. Are those images or text? Because currently me and the other two users are doing just text, but I suppose that could be useful to Kelu in someway (even if I'm not 100% sure what he does lol).

Oh sorry, It's Text but it's in a Zip File you have to extract. You can download 7zip from here http: //www .7-zip.org/download.html

You should probably focus on text from BT07, BT08, BT09, TD07, TD08, TD09.

Just so you Know I was just having issues downloading (fixed now), I've had 7zip installed for a long time lol. But It's text you say? Ok, still needs to be put into the table though (unless the files in a neat table already lol). So the people I asked to work on it can still work on it, just get text from that file. I'll open it momentarily to see exactly what i'm working with here.

Edit: I yield. This is fantastically helpful. Other than I'm working on some of the sets that aren't up yet, so more typing for me lol.

Also Kelu, do we have to do these sets that are now in that file download, or do we still need to organize them in excel sheet?

Please guys, don't start calling each other idiots, it's not like did something to interrupt your work, he just tried to help. Thanks for your work, but please next time just ask if there is something you can do.

About time limit, the programming work is a long task and I think it will take a month or so at least. So you don't need to rush this that much, database isn't needed for early testing.

First I gotta say a legit sorry to the two users (idk their names, but they know who they are), I was in a really bad mood yesterday because of the shitty atmosphere at my house, and lots of school work on top of it made me a bit...irritated to say the least. But also, referring to the two users here, you gotta realize I am essentially the head for the database, I'm trying to maintain organization by having certain users do certain tasks for the database, and it's not helpful when all the sudden one of them are done by someone who isn't a part of the card database group, even if the intentions are good. Again, now this is to anybody reading, Users CM4Saga and Yellow Sage and I are handling the database, and if I need more help I will ask ok?

Edit: Er I just read that thread that Gallatin created, and after massively blowing what i've said out of proportion and lying about what I said I actually don't apologize to him, maybe if he told the truth and didn't exagerate.

And Kelu I just gotta say that really helps, I do have a fair bit of school work, and I was worried it would be sooner. But now that I know the approximation of a month I'll be good. We have 2 sets already in data tables (we added a column at the end for triggers, and we dropped the shield column like I mentioned earlier in this forum/thread). But I'm pretty confident we can get it done shortly. Also just a heads up for the tables, if a card doesn't have an effect the table will just be blank in that section ok?

You should definitely realize that was unintentional, I was probably thinking Sage beacause thats what i think when i spell sagas name, loooks like it slipped lol.

And for this post to be productive: 3 sets done now, set 1, set 4, and extra booster cavalry of black steel are all in tables.

Judging by this, i see you are following the english meta?
If so, i hihly doubt you'll get more people until you put BT10 (when clear images hit the field) because CFC still has open servers with BT09 and everything up to it. If translations are problematic or things like that, you can always go DN-wise and have text written in a box when you hover with your mouse over the card (check Dueling Network for detailes).
